How to talk like a photographer
Photography, like just about any other profession, has its own it unique language. I often find myself working with a client and saying things only to realize that the client doesn’t understand what I’m talking about. This can be especially frustrating if you’re somebody who takes up photography as a hobby and then you go online and you try to read something and you can’t understand half of the words that are being used.
For my latest video I asked everyone in my group, (Pro Photo Talk with Booray) to give me some words and terms that only photographers use. I ended up with a whole a lot more than I could use in just one video so I suspect this might just be part 1.
If you’ve ever wondered what chimping means or crushed blacks or blown out then this is the video that explains it all.
How to talk like a photographer:
Fuji: What Does the DR Setting Do?
Almost all Fuji cameras have a DR Setting feature in the menu. The Fuji X100V and the X100F have it I know and I’m sure the Fuji X-T3 and X-T4 have it as well. The big question is: What does it do, how does it affect your images and when should you use it?
In my latest video I’ll take you step-by-step through the DR Setting in Fuji Cameras so that you understand how and when to use it for the best results.
How Sensor Size Affects Dynamic Range
One of the things that I love about photography is how deep the science goes. You can just set your camera to “auto” and press the button, or you can dive deep into what makes photography work and exist as an art form. My opinion on this is the same as my opinion on being a good driver: You can be a good driver without understanding how the car works but I think you’ll be a better driver if you learn what’s under the hood.
In this video I’ll explain in an easy-to-understand (I hope) way how dynamic range is affected by the sensor size of your camera.
