Why My Job Is Better Than Yours…
Sacred Heart & The Vault Wedding
My last wedding of the year was at Sacred Heart Church in Tampa. It’s probably the most ornate church we have in the bay area (Florida weddings are more likely to take place outside than inside) so it’s always a treat to get to work there. We Florida wedding photographers are always jealous of our northern friends who shoot in beautiful cathedrals all the time and they are jealous of our sunset beaches. At Sacred Heart Church we get to pretend we are New York photographers for a day!
The reception was at The Vault, a really cool venue in what used to be a bank (you probably could have guessed that). Not only is it a great venue, it’s only a block away from the church so guests can walk over and not have to drive and park all over again. That’s a great convenience at a wedding.
I just finished the wedding album and pages are below. As always, I’ve put my stamp on them so they are harder for people to steal and claim as their own. My name doesn’t actually appear on every page of the finished album. My clients pick all the images for their album which is always interesting to me. I’m entering one of the images from this wedding in national competition. It wasn’t picked for the album. Just goes to show you that you never know what people will love the most. :)
Mahaffey Theater Wedding Album
Recently, I photographed the wedding of Phillip and Jessica at Mahaffey Theater in St. Pete. One of the great things about being a wedding photographer is that you meet people from all walks of life. Phillip and Jessica are both opera singers. That’s right, opera singers. A person could go their whole life without ever meeting an opera singer and I get to spend the whole day with them on the happiest day of their life. It’s a great way to make a living.
Mahaffey is a wonderful place to get married and I think it’s one of those places that people don’t really think of right away. You can have your ceremony in front of the big windows inside or you can do it outside on the grass in between the theater and the Dali Museum. There aren’t a lot of places that can do both inside and outside weddings. Plus, of course, there’s the theater itself. They are great about letting you go inside the theater and shoot. At this wedding, there was an actual concert that night so we only had 15 minutes and we couldn’t get on the stage (because it’s already set) but they were obviously doing all they could to get us in so we could get some shots.
I needed some new sample albums for my clients to look at so I made a second copy of their wedding album for myself (with a few changes because there were a couple of images they didn’t pick for the album that I really love )
The album pages are below. The big “Booray Perry Photographer” logo on each page isn’t in the album. I have to put it on the images here because if I don’t, people steal the images and claim they shot them. It’s the downfall of western civilization my friends.
