Mahaffey Theater Wedding
Yesterday I photographed Phillip and Jessica’s at Mahaffey Theater in St. Pete. Usually, after the ceremony you do all the family group pictures and then you take the bride and groom out for romantic shots. However, The Mahaffey actually had a concert that night by The Florida Orchestra so we were told that we would have to rush straight into the theater after the ceremony if we wanted to get any pictures there.
So we went straight from “I Do” to shooting in the theater!
I had planned out a series of shots that I wanted to get on stage with Jessica and Phillip, who are both opera singers, only to discover that the stage was already set for the orchestra and we were not allowed on it. No worries, I had brought along a good friend, Pedro Carillo, who is also a wedding photographer, and with me on the camera and him on the light we were able to work fast and get several great shots before having to make room for that nights performance.
Congratulations Phillip and Jessica!
Wedding | Sacred Heart | The Vault
I recently photographed the wedding of Diane and Dom at Sacred Heart Church in Tampa, with the reception at The Vault. I have shot at Sacred Heart before but it was my first time at The Vault. I love it when the reception venue is next to the wedding venue because you only have to park once.
Sacred Heart is probably the most beautiful church in Tampa and they are particular about what they will allow during the ceremony/service. If you are planning a wedding there, be sure you have a photographer with the right equipment. No flash is allowed and they restrict how close you can get to the altar so good gear is a must.
I just love this dress. It’s such a classic style and the high collar and long sleeves are wonderful. This is a dress that will still look good in 30 years.
The Vault is a great venue. Lot’s of room, unique, great location..
Zac and Joey | Tampa Garden Club
I recently photographed Zac and Joey’s wedding at the Tampa Garden Club. December weddings can be hit or miss with the weather but they had a perfect day. It was 12/13/14 which is the last consecutive wedding date available until 1/2/3003!
They wedding party and friends stayed at the Epicurian Hotel. It’s a new hotel that is very modern and hip. I’m always looking for places to take my wife on those very rare weekends when we can get away for a night and The Epicurian is on my list now.
I love “first look” pictures. Grooms can be so self-conscious during the ceremony and they are more relaxed if they see the bride before.
This should be a wedding tradition! Everyone does a shot before the wedding!
There was a Christmas bike parade on Bay Shore Blvd during the ceremony so naturally I had to get Zac and Joey in the middle of it!
Joey did all the decorating herself…
