I received a package yesterday, stacked with all the rest that we get on a daily basis this time of year. It contained a Christmas ornament the likes of which I have never received before.
Jessica and Phillip were married in January of this year. (Here’s a blog post with images) It was a great wedding at Mahaffey Theater in St. Pete.
The pictures were wonderful, full of love and joy. I entered one of them into the International Print Competition and it received a merit. You can only enter 4 images into the competition. I shoot about 50,000 a year.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that Jessica is one of those people. You know the type: thoughtful, kind, thankful… the kind we all hope to be but rarely seem to manage on a daily basis? The kind that goes online without being asked and writes a good review for her wedding photographer because she knows that stuff helps us feed our families. The kind that sends “Thank You” cards.
The kind that makes Christmas ornaments with flowers from the wedding and sends them to family and friends… and even the wedding photographer.
People ask me what it’s like to be a wedding photographer and I often say, “You get to spend the day with people on the happiest day of their life.” It’s true. You’d be surprised at how wonderful those people can be.
Happy Holidays.
