Grand Plaza St. Pete Wedding

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Angela and Kurt’s Wedding at The Grand Plaza in St. Pete. I think it’s safe to say that The Grand Plaza probably hosts more beach weddings than any other hotel on the beach. They’re the only one I know that has a dedicated spot for it. In fact, they have two spots and can run two weddings at the same time. I’ve worked there quite a bit over the years.

Angela and Kurt are from Chicago. They came down with family and friends for a destination wedding. A little storm rolled in right after the ceremony and we had to move inside for some pictures in the lobby but the rain stopped by sunset and we were able to go back out for sunset beach pictures. It’s rare for it to rain longer than 30 minutes at the beach.

It was a great day and a great time was had by all! Below are a few favorites from the day:

Tampa Bay Headshots

I love when clients come back to see me. It’s pretty common to see families many times over the years as they return for updated portraits but weddings are hit and miss. Sometimes they come back for family portraits as their family grows, other times I never see them again except for Facebook updates.

That’s why I love it when someone comes back years later.

I shot Bonnie and Chuck’s wedding on July 4th. 2010. It was outdoors, it rained, we moved inside and it was great. Great wedding, great images, great couple… everything you love about being a wedding photographer. The rain managed to stop just long enough for us to run out for a few sunset pictures.

Well, Bonnie called me last week… she needed a good headshot quick. Could I do it?

It was great catching up!

I love this picture so much that I feature it on my business headshot page. ..

Engagement Clearwater Beach

Jeff and Monica came in from Illinois for an engagement session last week on the beach in St. Petersburg. I meet people from all over the world who come here to get married or vacation but I seem to meet more people from Illinois than anywhere else. Indiana seems to send a lot my way as well. Maybe it’s just my imagination, like how you never notice a particular type of car until you buy one and then you seem to see it everywhere.

We had great weather for the session. It’s the rainy month right now which means that it pretty much rains every day at some point. It seldom lasts more than 20 minutes or so which means I often am driving to the beach in a torrential downpour only to be shooting a beautiful sunset a half hour later.

We had a great time and I’m looking forward to the wedding next year! They’re getting married in May with ceremony and reception by Perfect Florida Beach Wedding.
