I Love My Brides

I know that it’s a cliche’ in my industry that wedding photographers are always “over the moon” about their clients. You see them posting on Facebook all the time about how awesome their clients are and how lucky they feel to be able to photograph their wedding. We all know that there’s a little bit of hyperbole thrown in there (bonus points for using the word, “hyperbole.” And yes, I looked it up to make sure it means what I think it means).

But, my brides really are awesome.

I seem to attract brides who are fun, silly, carefree… exactly the kind you love as a photographer. And, they do great little things like send you a text message the day after the wedding when you are barely able to move after 8 hours on your feet carrying all that gear, your hand cramping from holding that brick of a camera, tired from staying up until 2 a.m. downloading files.

Bride text

It’s the “..and stuff” part that made my day.

She probably spent all morning texting everyone involved with the wedding and probably doesn’t realize how nice it is to wake up after a long day of hard work, turn-on your phone and see a little something like that.

I love my brides.

Photographer of the Year

I was third overall for “Photographer of the Year”

Last night was the annual Tampa Area Professional Photographers Association Holiday Party and Banquet (that’s a long name..). This is when we all get together, hug, laugh and give each other awards. It’s a great group of photographers and the only party I can ever go to where I can hand my camera to someone and say, “Take my picture” with confidence that I’ll be in focus and my head won’t be cut off.

I picked up a couple of “Certificates of Appreciation” last night which is how we say “thanks for doing stuff for the organization.” I also was awarded “Top 10 Photographer” and 1st Place in the Social Function category (which is better known as the wedding category).

Imaging USA

I’m SOMEBODY now!

Then, today I opened the latest issue of Professional Photographer Magazine and there’s my picture on the page promoting Imaging USA, the big convention they hold every year. This year it’s in Nashville and I’ll be speaking.

Learn To Use Your Flash

The Florda Professional Photographers Association has asked me to teach the Spring Seminar on Sunday,  February 22nd and I’m going to be teaching all about flash photography!

Probably the hardest thing to learn regarding photography is what we call, “Off-Camera-Flash.” (OCF) It’s the art of removing your flash from your camera and setting it off at an angle so that you can light your subjects in a more pleasing and natural manor.

I’ll be teaching a full-day Seminar, starting in the classroom with instruction on understanding the flash and ending with a live-shoot, outdoors. Photographers can bring their cameras and practice what they’ve learned!

All the details are on the FPP website so i won’t repeat them here. Just click the link below and sign-up for a day of flash photography!
