Don Cesar Wedding | Sneak Peak

Last Saturday I photographed the wedding of Michael and Kimberly at The Don Cesar Hotel in St. Petersburg. It’s always a treat to work at The Don because the hotel has such a rich history. It’s been a pink palace on the beach here since the 1920’s!

The weather was fantastic and the ceremony ran a little late, to the point where the sun was touching the ocean when they had their first kiss as man and wife. As soon as the walked back down the aisle I grabbed them and rushed them to the water so we could get sunset pictures before it was too late. We then did the family photo’s after, upstairs in the banquet hall. This is going to sound like bragging (and it is.. :) but it’s a perfect example of how I am always telling people about the importance of hiring a professional (hopefully certified) wedding photographer. I had maybe 10 minutes before the sun was gone and still managed to get 20 good shots with different poses and lighting. If I didn’t have hundreds of beach weddings to my credit I would never have been able to do so much so fast. Yes, I know it’s bragging but that’s what blogs are for. :)

Here’s a few shots from the day. :)

Tampa Bat Mitzvah | Save The Date

I just wrapped up the design on “Save The Date” magnets for Alexa’s Bat Mitzvah next year. I love “Save The Date” magnets because they go on the refrigerator and they never come off. If you send a “Save The Date” card, it goes on the fridge too, but then something has to go on top of it to keep it there. With a magnet, the card is always on top so people can’t help but see it every day!

Old Friends

Booray and Lauren

My wife and I were at breakfast today when we ran into a client from 3 years ago. I keep tabs on my clients with Facebook and they keep tabs on me (because I post a lot. :) but I don’t always get to see them very often so it’s always nice when I get the chance for a hug. Lauren’s wedding is special but not for the usual reasons.

Rusty Pelican wedding

Three years ago, about this time of year in fact, I was in treatment for tonsil cancer. Thirty-five radiation treatments and seven chemotherapy treatments. I lost 65 pounds in 8 weeks (neck radiation is pretty brutal). I’m cancer free now but Lauren’s wedding happened to fall in my last week of treatment. I’ve never missed a wedding in my life and I wasn’t about to start.

It was 10 hours long but I made it and got great images.

So, while I have fond memories of all my weddings, Lauren’s will always hold a special place in my heart.

The good news is that I’ll be seeing her again next year, after the baby arrives. :)
